If something in your body feels off, there is usually a reason

Many of the women who come to Chevron Island Health Studio have already tried to figure things out on their own.

They have been told their results are normal, or that what they are experiencing is just part of getting older. But they still feel tired, flat, wired, or not quite like themselves.

We take a different approach.

Using acupuncture and Chinese medicine, we look at how your symptoms connect, whether that is hormonal changes, perimenopause, cycle irregularities, fertility, stress, or ongoing fatigue.

This is not about managing symptoms in isolation. It is about understanding what your body is asking for, and supporting it in a way that makes sense.

About The Studio

At Chevron Island Health Studio, we offer acupuncture and Chinese medicine with a focus on women’s health, delivered in a way that is thoughtful, thorough, and grounded in experience.

Our approach is centred around understanding the full picture of your health.

Rather than treating symptoms in isolation, we look at how your hormones, nervous system, energy, and overall health are interacting. This allows us to create treatment plans that are tailored to you, steady in their approach, and designed to support long term change.

Many of the women who come to the studio have already tried multiple approaches without clear answers. Our role is to listen carefully, connect patterns, and provide care that feels considered and realistic.

We know you might be wondering…

  • Acupuncture works by stimulating specific points on your body using fine needles. In Chinese Medicine, we understand this as helping your body regulate its own systems - your nervous system, your hormones, your digestion, your sleep. Modern research shows acupuncture triggers a physiological response: it reduces inflammation, regulates nervous system activity, and supports your body's natural healing processes. It's not magic, but it is genuinely effective. Most women feel calmer and more grounded after their first session, even if their main concern takes a few sessions to shift.

  • We work with women navigating hormonal transitions and nervous system challenges. This includes perimenopause, cycle irregularities, fertility support, anxiety, sleep issues, and recovery after birth. If your symptoms overlap multiple areas, that's exactly what we're equipped to help with.

  • The needles are extremely fine - about the thickness of a human hair. Most women don't feel them go in at all. What you might feel is a gentle sensation once the needle is in place, described as a slight heaviness or warmth. This is called "deqi" and it actually signals the treatment is working. It's not painful. If anything causes discomfort, we stop immediately.

  • Your first session is a consultation and treatment combined. Keri spends time understanding your symptoms, your health history, how your body has been changing, and what matters most to you. She'll ask about your sleep, digestion, stress levels, and how you're feeling emotionally. This isn't a quick tick-box exercise, it's about getting the full picture. After that, you'll receive acupuncture tailored to what your body needs. Most sessions last around an hour, and you'll rest with the needles in for about 20–30 minutes.

  • Yes, we're registered with most major health funds. We have a HICAPS machine on site, so you can claim your rebate directly at your appointment; there's no need to wait or submit receipts yourself. Your out-of-pocket cost is reduced immediately. Rebates vary depending on your level of cover, so ask us what you're entitled to.

  • This depends entirely on what you're treating and how long the pattern has been there. Some conditions improve noticeably within 3–4 sessions. Others take longer. A general guideline: if something has been present for years, healing usually takes weeks to months, not days. We always work this out together in your first session and let you know what realistic progress looks like for you specifically.

  • For most conditions, we recommend weekly sessions initially to build momentum. As you improve, you might shift to fortnightly or monthly maintenance sessions. The goal is consistency rather than intensity, regular support helps your body sustain the changes. Once you're stable, many women come in seasonally or when they need extra support.

  • Absolutely. Acupuncture works well alongside conventional medicine, other therapies, and lifestyle changes. If you're on medications, we factor that into your treatment. If you're seeing another practitioner, that's fine too. Just let us know so we can make sure everything is working together.

  • Wear comfortable, loose clothing that you can roll up easily (treatments often involve needles on your arms or legs). If you're having a facial acupuncture session, avoid heavy makeup, but normal skincare is fine.

  • Yes, book directly through our website or contact us if you have questions before booking.
