Finding Calm in Your Everyday

Creating simple moments of ritual and meaning can often be the antidote to getting swept up in the rush and exhaustion of our busy week.

If you’ve been in for a treatment recently you would have heard us suggest many simple daily ways to pause, take a breath, reassess your energy and respond accordingly.

We will usually suggest building these into already existing moments in your day where there is a natural transition from one activity to the next.

If you’re someone who sits in your car for 5 minutes upon arriving at home you’re already doing it … kind of :)

Here’s a few simple ones that might be a little more fun than scrolling instagram while you hear your family inside the house!

  • Legs up the wall before bed.

  • 5 slow deep breaths in through the nose and out through the mouth while you’re in the shower.

  • A cup of green tea in the afternoon to see you through the 3pm slump.

  • Singing in the car instead of listening to the news! (If you’re a client of Keri’s we know she’s already suggested to belt out some power ballads on your way home from work:)

Now these ‘practices’ are simple, free and believe it or not effective in bringing your focus and awareness back to your body, breath and the here and now.

To undo deeper tension and resolve more long standing health issues, we obviously need to go a little deeper. But sometimes booking an appointment or even running a bath can seem like too much.

We get it.

So we’d love you to take a moment as you’re reading to just take a few slow deep breaths and check in with your body sensations or with your heart if that feels available to you and see what might help right now?

It might be an early night, eating by candle light instead of the glow of a screen, to not book that extra thing in.

Our lives are full and mostly we’re privileged enough that they are full of good things, but even so we’d love to encourage you to take a moment.

We look forward to hearing about it at your next appointment.
