Year of Fire Horse 2026

Come celebrate with us at CIHS on 17th February!

In Chinese Medicine, the new year is not just a date on the calendar.

It is a shift in the energy of the universe, a recalibration of rhythm, and an invitation to align your body with the natural pulse of the seasons.

On February 17th, we welcome the Year of the Fire Horse, a year that marks something profound in Chinese cosmology.

The Horse represents the summer solstice, the peak of yang energy, when all plants are full and ripe with fruit. This is the moment when growth reaches its summit, and something quieter begins to stir beneath the surface.

2026 invites us to begin the gentle transition from doing to being, from building to savouring, from constant motion to presence with those we love.

This does not mean stopping.

It means noticing the shift and learning to move with it rather than against it.

Chinese New Year is not about resolutions or force. It is about resetting your body's rhythm to match the energy unfolding around you.

As we enter the Fire Horse year, the invitation is this: let your heart be vibrant, but do not let it scatter.

Allow creativity and passion to rise, but stay grounded.

Embrace the peak of energy, and then, when June arrives, begin to soften.

This is how Chinese Medicine has always understood renewal. Not as fixing what is broken, but as aligning with what is already moving.

The new year is not a fresh start. It is a recalibration.

What does your body need as this shift begins?

We’d love to support you to harness this fiery energy without burning out.

Horse

The Horse represents the summer solstice, when yang energy peaks and life is full and ripe. It embodies both strength and gentleness. Its hexagram shows five yang lines over one yin, the turning point where yin begins to emerge. This symbolises transition: from outward focus to inward rest, from business to loved ones. The Fire Horse asks us to stay open, work together, and let passion unite rather than divide.

Fire

2026 is the hottest year in 60 years. Fire brings creativity, imagination, spontaneity, and innovation. But it also scatters energy and stirs anxiety. When things become too intense, you feel ungrounded. The key is to stretch moments out rather than seeking quick bursts that drain you. Enjoy the fire without letting it scatter you.

Yang

Yang is action and momentum. The Horse's fire nature makes 2026 intensely active. Horses run freely or from fear—channel this energy wisely. Aim for slow-burning embers, not wildfire. Move with purpose, not panic.

Overall Picture

This year asks you to move differently. Channel your passion wisely. Create slow-burning embers rather than wildfire. Stretch moments out instead of seeking quick bursts that leave you depleted.

Stay grounded when fire tries to scatter you. Meditate. Process your emotions rather than letting them stir confusion in your heart.

Avoid what inflames you - heat-flaring foods, excessive caffeine, alcohol, doom-scrolling, fear-based media. These aggravate the fire and drain your qi.

Instead, harness this powerful energy through creativity, joy, emotional warmth, and meaningful connection. Work together. Stay open. Set aside differences.

Peak in June, then begin to soften. Shift from constant doing to being with loved ones. This is the turning point.

Take time for stillness so your heart can perceive clearly.

This year rewards those who pace themselves, not those who burn out. Move with wisdom. Shine brighter. Illuminate rather than combust.

With thanks to CT Holman and the Lillian Bridges Traditions for their inspiration and information on this years Chinese New year transition.
